G. Steven Bock opened GSB Design in 2004. He received his Masters degree in Architecture from Georgia Tech in 1994, and moved to Portland in the following Summer. He spent the next ten years working for mid-size architecture firms in Portland, working on school designs, condominiums, houses, retail stores, and medical office buildings.

Steve emphasizes a contextual approach to residential design, recognizing that site conditions, neighborhood characteristics, and his client’s unique lifestyles should be the primary drivers of good design. The firm specializes in residential work of any scale, and is experienced in working with houses built from 1890 through today.

Steve is equally adept at working in his unique interpretation of the Northwest modern style, as well as creating sensitive additions to existing homes in a wide variety of historical styles.
